Dear Brothers and Sisters:
I am delighted to announce that we have successfully reached a contract agreement with Mayor Adams administration and the City of New York. This achievement is a testament to our collective strength, unity, and unwavering commitment to representing the best interests of all DC37 and the members of Local 1455.
Throughout the negotiation process, we remained focused on securing fair wages, improved working conditions, and enhanced benefits for all. I am proud to say that our efforts have paid off, and we have achieved significant gains in these areas. The new contract ensures that our members will be fairly compensated for their hard work and dedication.
The new contract term is five years, five months and 12 days and includes a $3,000.00 bonus upon ratification, premium free healthcare benefits for you and your dependents, 16.21% compounded pay increase, including retroactive pay from the first day of the contract, City contributions to a DC37-run Child Care Trust Fund, Flexible Work Committee to pilot telecommuting, flex/compressed schedules and enhanced transit benefits, Pandemic response joint Committee, an additional $50.00 member contribution from the City to our Health & Welfare Fund to help the rising costs of prescription drugs and other supplemental benefits, an Additional Compensation Fund & and an Equity Panel to address specific needs in hard to recruit/ retain workers, revenue producing and change of technology titles.
I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the negotiating team which are made up of all DC37 Local Presidents, our Executive Director Henry Garrido, Associate Directors Rose Lovaglio-Miller and Jahmila Edwards, Research & Negotiations & Legal Departments for their tireless efforts in advocating for our members' rights. Their dedication and expertise were instrumental in securing this favorable outcome. I would also like to express my gratitude to each and every member for their unwavering support and solidarity throughout this process.
As we move forward, it is essential that we continue to stand united and work together to protect our hard-earned rights. Together, we have proven that when we stand as one, we can achieve great things. Let us remain vigilant in upholding the terms of this agreement and continue to strive for excellence in all that we do.
WE ARE NOT DONE!
As I write this letter Unions are facing unprecedented attacks across this country to undermine the hard work we do and to strip Unions of all Collective Bargaining Rights, Healthcare and Pensions that we have fought tirelessly for decades. We cannot let that happen. While businesses & large corporations make billions of dollars at the top, working families are forced to work two and three jobs just to put food on the table. We must remain Vigilant to ensure what we fought for is not taken away. Together we will be successful.
Once again, congratulations to each and every one of you on this remarkable achievement. I am honored to serve as your President and look forward to a future filled with continued success and prosperity.
In Solidarity,
Michael L. DeMarco
